Dear Management,
The coordinators M. van Hall (sculpture), M. van Vreeden (painting) and M. van Elk (mixed media) would like by this writing to draw attention to the fact that they are seriously concerned by the working conditions of the students of the departments of sculpture, painting and mixed media.
The lack of studio space for students, especially for those that are in their last two years before their final exam, is gradually leading to an emergency situation.
Due to an increase of the number of students, also the number of students that work scattered across the city of Enschede and environments has become larger, more cluttered and more time consuming to counsel. These students are about to fall in between two stools.
If we continue to be responsible for serious counselling we insist that before the end of the academic year 86/87 an accommodation for these students will be found.
Our thoughts go out to something similar to the old textile mill Schuttersveld located on the Hengeloseweg.
By disposing of the annex Twekkelo an amount of fl. 35.000 becomes available. This amount could be used for a space in Enschede in which students of the three departments concerned could work in permanent studios.
We would like to hear as soon as possible what your point of view is in this matter.

Sincerely

M. van Elk
